>> that breaking news is a possible fire at the west portal muni station in san francisco. >> there is reports of heavy smoke at the western end of the tunnel the fire department has evacuated passengers from the west portal station. >> so far, there are no reports of injuries and dozens of firefighters are on the scene. we'll continue to bring you updates here on the news at 4:00 and on twitter, good afternoon, i'm dan ashley >> i'm cheryl jennings fear and panic right now as a fast-moving grass fire chased residents out of their homes today. >> 100 firefighters worked to put out flames near the mobile home park.

vic lee is live with what's happening right now. vic? >> well, this man made lake here is where cal fire choppers got water to make dumps on the fire just over the hill there the fire has been contained after burning about 5 to 10 acres there are no injuries minor damage the fire started after 12:00, noon, at one point getting close to homes in this park. residents in the rear of the park were evacuated but they're coming back home now and have been allowed to come back home, but it got scary for a while. the grass fire started on a hillside in the rear of marin trailer park. >> a lot of residences and apartments and condos there and then, when wind shifted it went wide and was in this week.

>> they're dumping water and suddenly, the wind clafrnged. >> smoke, everywhere. >> they were going on a hike, they saw trouble head >> it's smoking and gray. just horrible. >> firefighters regrouped, tractors trying to set up a break. you can see from sky 4r7 lines spreading quickly, still threatening home. s now, the fire was traveling along the railroad tracks, right in back of the trailer park along the way, it burned several decks next to the tracks. it threatened more. that is when he went into action. >> we saw that going up, it got real. >> yes. i was trying to put a lot of water in the middle of the tech. >> police ordered evacuations the trailer park was one of the

first >> they were like, oh, okay. try to evacuate everything trying to leave quickly. >> now, it's just a grass fire, but arson units are investigating to see what caused the blaze. vic lee, abc7 news. >> meantime, firefighters battled a vegetation fire in palo alto about 2:30 on page mill road. it was visible in hills from southbound 280. no structures were damaged and crews are mopping up the fire. westbound page mill road traffic is closed. >> neighbors grieving over the death of a man killed after a fire broke out in alameda county near hayward this morning. firefighters found the trailer in flames after 3:00 a.m . >> mobile home fire gets started. so it's not unusual to have that

volume of fire. >> we're a very tight community right here. and have friends lived here five years. my mother lives over there. our manager lived there so it's a great loss. >> investigators and officials from the coroner looked through the trailer trying to find the cause of death they say the man had limited mobility. they're trying to find of cause of the fire. >> police searching for a shooter in a fatal drive by just after 9:00 on 15th street near mission this morning police say the victim was shot several times in the upper body. investigators have not determined whether the cars were in motion or if the victim was in a parked car. and there is little information on a shooter >> a doctor testified in the trial of giants fan brian stow. on opening day, two fans beat

with. >> until released, bergdahl was america's only remaining pow from the wars in iraq and afghanistan. bergdahl says for part of the time he was kept in a cage in the dark. an inspector general report says u.s. embassies may be at risk because security contractors are failing to fully screen guards. this in the wake of the attack in benghazi, libya in 2012. the review found contractors that sent guards to improve security did not perform vetting specified. the names of the embassy locations have not been revealed. >> new jersey governor chris christie was in san francisco trying to drum up support for the man challenging california governor jerry brown in november.

daughter's classmates graduate. jahi would have been there, too, but for complications after her december surgery at childrens hospital left her declared brain dead the family fought that and now has jahi in an undisclosed location on a vent later and feeding tube. her family went back to the same school she started kindergarten to collect her honorary 8th grade diploma. >> it is bittersweet. a lot of them are her friends she's so loving. she can't be here, i know she's happy and proud. >> despite reports, the school principal says they never intended not to honor jahi >> we've always loved her, she's been a member of the family. it's only appropriate to honor her today. >> her classmates told us they wouldn't have it any other way. >> she hasn't been able to do that with us. instead of being
